The Deloitte World Meeting at the Ritz Carlton Berlin was a high-tech and logistical production requiring Secret Service clearance. The main stage had to be integrated into an extremely cramped ballroom—with no space for conventional backstage rigging. The solution: a vertical, two-story control room built behind the stage.
Lighting console, video playback, audio mixing console, and camera control were positioned on the upper level, while master control, backup systems, and patch panels were installed on level 1. This vertical separation allowed multiple teams to work simultaneously in a minimal footprint. Intercom systems and redundant cabling connected both levels.
The presence of Barack Obama as the keynote speaker necessitated Secret Service clearance for the entire production. Every crew member underwent background checks. All technical installations—truss rigging, stage structures, cable runs—were inspected and approved by the Secret Service. Construction schedules had to be coordinated with security sweeps, and equipment cases were thoroughly examined.

DESIGN & EXPERIENCE
An innovative double-decker control room solution for extremely limited space. The vertical stacking of the control positions presented a structural and workflow challenge: load distribution on the hotel floor, sound insulation between levels, safe stair connection, and redundant power supply for both floors. Simultaneously, high-security coordination with the Secret Service was required, including daily equipment checks and personnel screening of the entire crew.
