PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Deloitte World Meeting at Ritz Carlton Berlin was a high-performance tech and logistics production under Secret Service conditions. The main stage had to fit into a very tight ballroom – with no space for standard backstage rigging. The solution: A vertical two-story control center built on two levels behind the stage area.

Lighting console, video playback, audio mixer, and camera control were placed on the upper level, while master control, backup systems, and patch areas were on level 1. This vertical split allowed multiple teams to work in parallel on a minimal footprint. Intercom systems and redundant cabling connected both of the levels.

The presence of Barack Obama as keynote speaker meant Secret Service clearing for the entire production. Every crew member underwent background checks. All technical installs – truss rigging, stage builds, cable runs – were inspected and cleared by the Secret Service. Build times had to be synced with security sweeps, and all gear cases were x-rayed.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Innovative double-deck control solution for extremely limited space. The vertical stacking of control positions posed both structural and workflow challenges: load distribution on the hotel floor, sound insulation between levels, a secure stair connection, and redundant power supply for both levels.

At the same time, high-security coordination with the Secret Service was required, including daily equipment checks and personnel screening of the entire crew.
